LO-MASS® Kiln Furniture

Ceramic Systems

High-performance kiln furniture can serve a crucial role in the transition from linear ceramic manufacturing to a circular model that champions resource efficiency and product recovery. Our LO-MASS® kiln furniture is lighter, stronger, and thinner than traditional counterparts. Minimizing mass without compromising on performance is an operational triumph, improving productivity while significantly reducing energy consumption. Low mass kiln furniture processes ceramics faster than heavy mass ceramic parts, increasing throughput by as much as 33%.

LO-MASS® kiln furniture can be designed for any kiln type, with limitless potential for customization. With reduced refractory mass and greater thermal conductivity, our kiln furniture delivers a rapid return on investment with limited maintenance costs throughout service lifetime. They succeed in all the metrics that matter most to the circular economy, and are primly positioned to assist with industry-scalable ceramic recycling.

  • Enhanced safety
  • Improved fired product quality
  • Faster ROI
LO-MASS® XXL Plate

LO-MASS® XXL plates are offered in a maximum size of 1,250x900x10 mm.

This increased setting space offers many advantages, including:

  • Further reduction of structural supports and kiln furniture
  • Elimination of joints and seams underneath the product
  • Flatness retention over a large setting area
LO-MASS® Ultra

New product range combining Saint-Gobain technology and LO-MASS® efficiency to meet all customer challenges. This latest generation of LO-MASS® plates has been designed to improve efficiency and production capacity.

LO-MASS® Ultra plates allow customers to have more than 100 additional pieces while being more energy efficient. LO-MASS® Ultra has been developed to optimise energy consumption during the firing cycle improve mechnical resistance.

The plates are suitable for all systems, not being produced in a mould but cut with the precision of a water jet. Our plates can therefore be tailored to the customer's needs for the shape and size of the plates required.

  • Compatibility with all systems
  • Positive impact CO2 reduction
  • Lower energy consumption
  • Improve refractory mass
  • Increased productivity
  • Low reactivity
  • Longer life time
  • Faster heating & cooling cycles
  • Production capacity and efficiency

FAQ

What are the advantages of LO-MASS® kiln furniture for DPF/GPF filter and substrate manufacturing?

The exceptional properties of LO-MASS® components and systems make them an ideal choice for the firing of automotive diesel and gasoline particulate filters (DPF/GPF) and substrates.

LO-MASS® components offer exceptional benefits. The production of thin, lightweight plates and profiles provides more efficient utilization of the kiln and lowers overall operational costs. LO-MASS® components’ excellent mechanical strength at high temperatures maximizes the number of filters per plate, resulting in more product being fired and less kiln furniture.

LO-MASS® components increase productivity for DPF/GPF filter and substrate manufacturing while reducing energy consumption. In addition to offering increased strength and output, LO-MASS® components help improve vital sustainability efforts. Saint-Gobain Performance Ceramics & Refractories is the industry leader in the development of silicon carbide materials with exceptional high-temperature oxidation resistance.

Kiln furniture assemblies for use in the manufacture of DPF/GPF filters and substrates consist mainly of Advancer®, N-Durance® and Hexoloy® advanced silicon carbide. These products offer excellent performance and compatibility with the fired product. Leveraging the power of the proprietary KilnWorks® customized software, Saint-Gobain Performance Ceramics & Refractories‘ engineers can design and develop customized kiln furniture for any application.

LO-MASS® kiln furniture and LO-MASS® silicon carbide components and assemblies are the clear choices versus traditional materials.
