Which refractory solutions are best suited to solid/viscous waste material and liquid/gaseous waste material?

Solid/viscous waste incineration applications benefit from the use of rotary kilns and solutions able to offer high abrasion resistance while resisting corrosive atmospheres at high temperatures.  


Saint-Gobain Performance Ceramics & Refractories’ Chromcor® BDAK alumina-chromia material is recommended for high wear areas, while mullite-based materials (such as MS4) can be used for the overall lining. 

Liquid/gaseous waste incineration typically involves waste from chemical processes being incinerated on site. A range of refractory systems is suitable for these corrosive environments, including chlorides, fluorides, PCBs, and organochlorides. Fluoride-containing waste is very aggressive to silica, even at low temperatures. Coral® FP monolithic - a phosphate bonded ramming monolithic - is therefore recommended for this application. MS2R mullite bricks are recommended for alkali-containing residues.
